Country music tells stories, and with a vocal performance
as Emily Bashall can give, this story comes alive.
Emily Bashall, a singer, songwriter, and recording artist fell in love with country music in her small town of Sydenham, Ont. From a young age, she aspired to find her place in the country music world. As a young girl, she began journaling and writing poetry. Her poems took a quick turn to songs when she received her first guitar at the age of 13. As she navigated through her teenage years, Emily developed a connection to country music, drawing inspiration from strong female artists, such as Loretta Lynn, Miranda Lambert, and Martina McBride, to name a few.
She is excited to debut her newest single “Won’t Say it’s Love” written by Candice Lacina, Aaron Pollok, and Annika Odegard. The blues and gospel-inspired song along with Emily’s ability to captivate us with her undeniable storytelling vocals hit all the emotions felt when experiencing new love.
Back in the summer of 2016, after years of playing shows around eastern Ontario where she attended University, Emily decided to take her writing skills to Nashville, where she composed her first EP, “Up On the Hill”. She released her first single and title track, “Up on the Hill”, to Canadian Country radio in the fall of 2016, earning her the spot in the January 2017 issue of Kingston Live Magazine as a Rising star to watch, followed by her first radio tour, venturing out to the Canadian East Coast.
In 2018 she aligned herself with multiple Juno and CCMA award-winning producer, Mike Little with whom she worked with in January of 2019. Upon the completion of two singles both done with an all Canadian cast, she released the first, Breaking Bad Habits to Canadian Country Radio in June 2019. The song is approaching 1000 spins at radio and was added at stations in Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, and nationally on Siriux XM. This single catapulted Emily into a summer calendar fully booked with shows including opening for Tanya Tucker and Clay Walker at Manitoulin Country Fest 2019. This single was also featured on the Spotify playlist New Music Nashville. 2019 ended on a very positive note when she found out Breaking Bad Habits was #1 most played song in 2019 at Country 103 Great lakes Country.
Although disappointed about her 20 date tour booked to promote the single having to be canceled due to Covid-19, she is moving forward with the release as planned.
